Amigos de MexFlux: Lidia Irene Benítez Valenzuela
What do you study?
Master of Science in Natural Resources.
What project are you participating in?
We study the effect of the sea breeze on the turbulent processes in the atmosphere over the coastline.
What excites you about your project?
The project is novel because we are studying the energy flux over a water body in a semi-arid region.
What led you to work on your project and think about fluxes?
My interest is in the atmosphere, in particular meteorology. Knowing the importance of the links between the earth’s surface, water, and the atmosphere and their respective feedback mechanisms.
What article/presentation/talk inspired you to work on what you do?
When I discovered Shuttleworth’s Terrestrial Hydrometeorology book (2012).
What do you do for fun/hobby life beyond the academy?
I really like to play board games, especially Rummikub. I love watching horror movies.
